Federation set for Tuesday Red Rose Rally

UPDATE: Read the wonderful Red Rose Rally round-up at the DVRCV webite.

The Federation of Community Legal Centres will participate as part of an alliance of family violence prevention groups at tomorrow's Red Rose Rally from 1–2pm on the steps of the Victorian State Parliament.

The rally is calling for dedicated funding for family violence death reviews through the Coroner's Prevention Unit of the Coroners Court.

Funding ceased in July 2010 and, despite supporting the reviews and stating they will continue, the Victorian Government has so far failed to commit to dedicated funding.

Together with family violence prevention advocates, speaking at the rally will be Victorian Shadow Attorney-General, Martin Pakula, and Greens MLC, Colleen Hartland. Attorney-General Robert Clark has also been invited to speak.

Further information is available at the Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria website:

A media release, letter to MPs, timeline and factsheet will also be available from tomorrow at:

An online petition is also running at:
