Help is available if you feel unsafe because of a family member’s behaviour:
- If you are in danger, do not wait - call the police on 000
- Seek legal advice if:
- You have a court date for a family violence intervention order or safety notice, even if the police have told you that you do not need to go to court
- Find the community legal centre duty lawyer service for the court hearing your matter, to get free information and advice about intervention orders before or on the court date.
- For information on getting legal advice before court, view this factsheet.
- You need free information or advice about what to do about family violence, but do not have a court date.
- You have a court date for a family violence intervention order or safety notice, even if the police have told you that you do not need to go to court
