Outstanding achievements in the legal profession have been recognised through the presentation of 18 awards at the Victorian Legal Awards gala dinner.
We are extremely proud the work of two of our CLCs was recently honoured.
The Access to Justice Award was won by Gerard Brody, CEO of the Consumer Action Law Centre.
The Centre supported 5 clients to give evidence at the Royal Commission into Banking Misconduct. It also made significant policy submissions about law reform to assist with redress for those who lost money.
The Community Lawyer or Organisation of the Year Award was won by Sam Elkin of the LGBTIQ Legal Service at the Saint Kilda Legal Service.
St Kilda Legal Service partnered with Thorne Harbour Health (THH) (formerly the Victorian AIDS Council) to establish Victoria’s first dedicated LGBTIQ outreach lawyer.
We are very proud of the work Gerard and Sam have done, and on behalf of our sector we congratulate you both!
