Why join the Federation?
Meaningful work with real impact
At the Federation, we are more than a peak body – we are a passionate, values driven team where every role contributes to a more just and equitable society, creating a fairer, more inclusive Victoria.
Our small team works at the intersection of community, law and systems change. In different ways, we all play a part in improving access to justice and amplifying the collective voice of community legal centres across the state.
Whether you are shaping policy, supporting member community legal centres, or strengthening our internal operations, our team contributes to advancing human rights, social justice and community legal services across Victoria.
If you are looking for a meaningful role that contributes to social justice and creates lasting change for communities, you will find purpose and connection with our team.

Internship opportunities at the Federation of Community Legal Centres
The Federation offers internships for students studying a Juris Doctor (JD) at the University of Melbourne. A ‘legal internship’ is an elective subject via formal application through the University of Melbourne where students are required to complete at least 15 days of unpaid practical legal experience. Interns at the Federation work with the policy team, contributing to research, working with members, and analysing policies and their implications on the communities that our sector serves. For further information, see University of Melbourne Juris Doctor Course Structure.
